Clear score is damage a second against a steady pack, so the class that survives best does not always lead it. Tier comes from that score. Survivability and difficulty are separate scores on the tier list and on each class page. The number beside each passive is what that passive adds to the clear score at rank 5. How a build is chosen

The cap is six spells

A run holds six spells. Once the sixth is taken, the game stops offering new spells, so no seventh enters play. The best six is the full set of spells a run can hold, not a shortlist.

The clear scores use rank 1 and no passives

Every spell is scored at rank 1, before any passive. That is the number the tier list ranks classes by, and the clear score on this page is that number. Later ranks raise the score, and a different set of six spells can score lower.

A level-up offers three cards, not a menu

The game deals three cards per level-up. Another rank for a spell you hold is more likely than a new spell. What you take early changes what later level-ups can deal, so your six spells are a priority order.

Passives change the score, not the six spells

The best-six clear score takes no passive. four of the 10 passives change the clear score: all damage, recharge speed, area size, and critical strike chance. The other six change maximum health, movement speed, health per second, pickup range, experience gained, and damage blocked per hit, and the calculator shows each one separately. The best passive beside each class shows what one passive at rank 5 adds to those six spells.

Questions about builds

What is the best build in Azeroth Survivors?

Warlock: Curse of Agony, Hellfire, Rain of Fire, Immolate, Corruption, and Shadow Bolt at rank 1, for a clear score of 254.2. That is the highest clear score of the nine classes; the Warlock page lists every other spell.

Why does the best build take only six spells?

Because a run holds six spells. A seventh cannot be taken, so once you hold six, every later spell card is a rank for one of them.

Do passives belong in the best build?

The best-six clear score takes no passive. four of the 10 passives change the clear score: all damage, recharge speed, area size, and critical strike chance. The other six change maximum health, movement speed, health per second, pickup range, experience gained, and damage blocked per hit, and the calculator shows each one separately. The best passive beside each class shows what one passive at rank 5 adds to those six spells.

Is the best build the best class?

No. The best build is the highest clear score, and the clear score measures damage against a steady pack. A class can lead the score and still be the harder run; survivability and difficulty are separate scores, not part of the placement.
