Azeroth Survivors Marks: What They Are and What They Buy
Marks are the currency a run pays out and the armory spends on a piece of gear. The balance belongs to a class, and a star on a piece is what a mark buys.
What marks are
Marks are the currency the armory spends on the stars of a piece of gear. A run pays them out, and the armory keeps a balance for each class. The upgrade on a piece charges the next star in marks.
The zone decides which rarity a piece drops at, not the mark. A mark only adds to the piece a zone handed over.
Where the balance shows
The armory keeps a balance for each class, and the line that shows it names the class with the figure. A balance always belongs to one class.
The armory is also where a mark is spent. The upgrade takes the next star's price from that balance, and it raises the piece that class wears.
What a run pays
A run pays marks out. The game's achievements are the only place that names a figure, and each one sets a target.
| What the achievement asks for | Marks |
|---|---|
| One boss to pay out | 50 |
| One run to pay out | 100 |
| The running total to reach | 100 |
| The running total to reach | 1,000 |
| The running total to reach | 10,000 |
Heroic is open to every class and makes a zone harder: more marks, more boss loot and more talent experience.
Every zone that line names has its own page: Zones and bosses
What a harder difficulty changes
Every rank sets 4 multipliers: enemy health, enemy damage, the marks a run pays, and boss loot with talent experience. The 5 ranks' figures are below.
| Rank | Enemy health | damage | marks | loot and talent experience |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heroic I | ×1.79 | ×1.65 | ×1.00 | ×1.30 |
| Heroic II | ×1.97 | ×1.77 | ×1.25 | ×1.40 |
| Heroic III | ×2.16 | ×1.88 | ×1.50 | ×1.50 |
| Heroic IV | ×2.45 | ×2.01 | ×2.00 | ×1.60 |
| Heroic V | ×2.72 | ×2.16 | ×2.50 | ×1.70 |
Each rank also adds 2 modifiers to the run, and the picker names the pair in its own words.
| Rank | What the rank adds |
|---|---|
| Heroic I | Boss attacks give 15% less warning. Elite packs: elites come in pairs. |
| Heroic II | Relentless: bosses fight enraged from the start, and fiercer below 30% health. Wardens: each guardian slain makes the others twice as tough, and lairs refill sooner. |
| Heroic III | Lean purse: one free reroll, and caches cost a quarter more. Affix: the horde has Bolstering, Sanguine or Explosive. |
| Heroic IV | Old mechanics: boss towers and gazes are back. Unforgiving: a failed boss mechanic hits three times as hard. |
| Heroic V | Withering: regeneration, heals and leech are halved, and revives are slower and weaker. Council: two affixes, and the final boss brings one of the zone's earlier bosses. |
The picker also offers the zone as it is, a run with no rank. This page has no figures for it, only the ranks above.

What marks buy
A mark buys one star at a time. A piece runs from 0 stars to 5, and the upgrade button on it takes the next star's price from the class's balance.
Stars do not open by themselves: the game's rule is 'Beat Heroic I in its zones to open stars'. The fifth star is the last.
Three figures appear on no screen: how much a star adds to a piece, what an upgrade charges for the next star, and which boss pays how many marks.
The gear page says what the 4-piece and 8-piece bonuses wait on: stars and set bonuses
What is not marks
3 things that look like marks and are not:
- Talent points. A run pays them as talent experience, and the class spends them in its trees. Talents
- Achievement points. They buy the companions their perks, one rank at a time. Collection
- Jewelry. A ring, a trinket or an amulet lasts the run that offered it, and no star goes on it. Gear and jewelry
Questions
What are marks?
Marks are the currency a run pays out and the armory spends on a piece of gear. Each class keeps its own balance, and a mark buys a star on a piece.
Where do I see how many marks I have?
In the armory, on the class you are looking at. Each class keeps its own balance, and the line that shows it names the class.
How many marks does a run pay?
The game names figures only in its achievements: 50 from one boss, 100 in one run, and totals of 100, 1,000, 10,000. A harder difficulty pays more.
What do marks buy?
A mark buys a star on a piece of gear, from 0 to 5. Stars open only with clears: the game's rule is 'Beat Heroic I in its zones to open stars'. A set's 4-piece and 8-piece bonuses wait on those stars.
Do marks buy talents or perks?
No. Talent points come from talent experience, and achievement points buy the companions their perks. A mark is spent on a piece's stars.
Where these numbers come from
The figures here are the game's own. The thresholds are what its achievements ask for, and the star rules come from the game's client at https://wow.aethus.pl, read on 2026-11-02.
