OrbiHex Survivor

A top-down space survivor where the ship fires on its own, so the hand stays on the movement keys. 3 acts, 6 weapons that evolve, and 2 endless modes after the campaign.

The ship shoots, the pilot moves

The weapons fire on their own, and experience arrives the moment an enemy dies. There is no crystal to walk over, so every step is spent dodging rather than collecting.

The enemies arrive as fleets, and their shots come in patterns. You can see a pattern before it lands, so there is time to move.

WASD or the arrow keys move the ship, ZQSD works too, and holding the left button drags a virtual joystick. The pause button opens the settings, which is where the phone’s control changes from a joystick to follow-finger.

6 weapons, and what they become

Every level offers upgrade cards and the build grows through them. Six weapons can be evolved into stronger forms, and an evolution needs the upgrades that feed it. A weapon you keep feeding turns into something the arena has not shown yet.

The offer is a card rather than a shop, so the choice is made in the middle of the fight, and it holds for the rest of the run.

3 acts, 3 bosses

The campaign is 3 acts, each closing on a boss with its own style: the Core Sentinel, the Orbital Warden and the Fracture Engine. The arenas between them are geometric and shifting, so the ground changes while the fight does and a route from one act may not work in the next.

After the campaign, Overdrive unlocks and 2 endless modes open: Normal, which climbs stage by stage, and Assault, which sends enemies without a pause and brings the bosses back.

NOVA and the Laboratory

NOVA is the currency a run earns, and the Laboratory is where it is spent on the ship. The Laboratory upgrades the ship itself, so a run that ends early still pays for an upgrade. Ships, cannons and backgrounds are cosmetic, and the same currency unlocks them.

There are also weekly boss challenges and a daily prize wheel. They give a short session something to do.

How it sits beside Azeroth Survivors

It plays the same way: one figure, a horde that arrives on its own, weapons that fire without a press, and a level-up that offers a choice. Azeroth Survivors spends that choice on spells and passives for a class; OrbiHex spends it on weapons, passives and evolutions for a chassis.

The difference is the tone and the clock. The arenas are neon and synthetic rather than fantasy, the run ends on a boss wave rather than on a death, and the only defensive input is movement, which both games ask for.

A first run

Take a weapon before a passive. The ship’s damage comes from the weapons, and an evolution needs the upgrades that feed it, so the early cards decide what can evolve later.

Watch the pattern rather than the enemy. The arenas are built from shapes, and a shot that looks like it comes from the side is usually the edge of a pattern that has already been drawn.

Questions

Is OrbiHex Survivor free?

Yes. It plays on this page with no account and no purchase.

What are the controls?

WASD, the arrow keys or ZQSD move the ship, and holding the left button drags a virtual joystick. Upgrades are taken by clicking a card, and the pause button opens the settings.

How many acts and bosses are there?

3 acts, each ending on a boss: the Core Sentinel, the Orbital Warden and the Fracture Engine. Each one fights differently from the last.

Do I have to collect experience?

No. Experience is granted the moment an enemy dies, so there are no crystals to walk over and every step is spent on position rather than on pickups.

What is NOVA for?

It is spent in the Laboratory on the ship between runs, alongside cosmetic ships, cannons and backgrounds. Weekly boss challenges and a daily prize wheel pay more of it.

What happens after I press Play?

The game opens on its own start screen first. Press the button there and it starts; nothing else on the page has to be pressed before it.

How do I leave fullscreen?

Press Esc. The game fills the screen and returns to this page when you leave it.
